One Day

One day, I went out with Nicole to get some b-roll footage for a video I’m working on. It’s quite funny because we were gone only 45 minutes at the most and at least 4 people stopped us to ask what we were doing. Each one of them assumed I was there to fix the roads. Or to show that the roads need fixing. It was the same thing to them.

It is common to build as you have money.
So there are many unfinished houses in the Kenet
as people wait until they can afford to continue building

This is one of the few open fields in the Kenet.

This cow was not a happy cow. He had lots to moo about.

This is a more typical street in the Kenet.

This is a less than 2 year old paved road. It is already breaking.
But it is still better than the dirt & rock roads
even if cars have to creep along the concrete waves

It shouldn’t suprise me that one guy came over and talked to us. Another guy also asked if we were going to fix the roads. A lady stopped and asked us about fixing the roads. She gave us a cookie from her grocery bag before heading off to her house. And another man rode over to us on his bicycle to see if we were going to fix the roads.

The Kenet doesn’t officially fully exist in the eyes of the city governement yet. Yet being the key word. They’ve started. They paved the main road. They put in street signs. They put water lines from the city out to the Kenet.

One day, the Kenet will be a part of Durres in the eyes of the governement. One day, their roads will get paved. One day, things will be different. One day, things will be better. One day. That’s all the hope most Albanians have. One day.

I can’t imagine being limited in that hope. Only being able to place my hope in what other people can do for me. Instead I get to place my hope in the God who can do anything!

I hope that one day, Albanians will put their hope in God. One day, Albania will be a Christian nation. One day, Albanians will be my brothers & sisters in Christ.

I hope that one day, Albanians will no longer place their hope in circumstances or other people but in the God who can change circumstances and people. The God who gives real hope. Eternal hope.
